Spike

Summary

Spike is an instrument that can physically etch audio graffiti into surfaces and play them back. The "spiked" surfaces then become not only an analog storage medium, but also a centerpiece for an expressive form of collaborative musical composition.

Spike is being developed by Kelly Norton, Mimi Liu, and Mat Laibowitz. It was first propsed and prototyped as a final project for Hiroshi Ishii's Tangible Interfaces course at the MIT Media Lab. And to be clear, we do not yet have a working prototype of Spike. We're looking to rectify that as soon as time permits.
